How to find BPM by tapping and use the metronome

   Tap the large Tap button or press Spacebar several times in time with the beat.

   Review the estimated BPM and tap stability, then fine-tune the BPM if needed.

   Choose beats per bar and volume, then start the metronome to hear a steady click with an accented first beat.

How does tap tempo calculate BPM?

Tap tempo measures the time between your recent taps, averages those intervals and converts the result into beats per minute. More consistent taps usually produce a more stable estimate.

How many times should I tap?

Two taps are enough to produce an initial estimate, but four to eight steady taps usually give a more useful result. If you pause for more than a couple of seconds, the tap sequence resets.

What does tap stability mean?

The stability indicator compares the spacing of your recent taps. A higher percentage means the intervals were more consistent. It is a timing guide rather than a musical accuracy score.

How does the browser metronome stay in time?

The metronome schedules short click sounds ahead of playback using the Web Audio clock instead of relying only on visual timers. Normal browser and device scheduling limits still apply, so it is intended for practice and quick tempo reference rather than laboratory timing.

What are beats per bar?

Beats per bar controls how many clicks make up one repeating measure. The first click of each bar is accented so you can hear where the measure begins.

Does the tool use my microphone?

No. Tap Tempo only measures your button or keyboard tap timing, and the metronome generates its click locally. No microphone or file upload is required.
